It is not easy to live a human life! We face challenges right from the time we are born, and they keep visiting us all through our lives. These may be related to challenges in daily living, such as in the roles and relationships we play - a child, a parent or partner, or they can be related to our not being able to learn, grow or perform, such as at school or work. They may also be deep rooted psychological issues emerging from unmet needs, childhood violence, abuse, bullying or else they may be a consequence of substance abuse and other addictions. Or they may be a result of one or more of similar factors. We experience these sometimes as mild disturbances or moderately bothersome. But when left unattended they have a tendency to disrupt life - ours, and that of others. The evidence is compelling, that merely having someone thoughtful and wise, to talk to and gain a perspective from can be tremendously effective. However often the ones in our closest proximity - parents, partners, friends etc are not equipped to see these problems in the right light. Instead the response a suffering individual often receives is judgement and blame which often aggravates the situation. As a result, millions of people end up having a life disrupting mental disorder such as anxiety, depression etc.  It is said 1 in 5 individuals suffers from a serious mental health condition.

Saarathi's aim is to contribute to the creation of a generation of caregivers who are equipped to be supporters of those in pain.
